State Cup is over for the BU11 Crusaders team, but the boys had a great weekend together.
Mat really enjoyed learning from and playing for Coach Rick.

Here’s video of the tying goal. With 1 minute left, Mat dropped the corner kick into the box, and the forward knocked it in for the goal:

Here’s a video from Day 1, Game 1, when the CSC forward was on the receiving end of a dirty foul. Mat took the free kick and tried for a high shot at the near post:

The next time the CSC forward was fouled in scoring range, Mat took the free kick, and he decided to shoot a little lower because the goalie seemed better at saving the higher shots:

The CSC goalie outrunning his stalker–the boy in black fouled him at least 5 times during the game, resulting in CSC kicks, and he was eventually carded (the CSC sideline opinion was that the card took a little too long to finally come out of the ref’s pocket):
